CALL FOR RESIGNATION OF MINISTER, NATIONAL YOUTH ORGANISER BASELESS- NDC YOUTH
The Greater Accra Regional Youth Leadership of the NDC has carefully followed recent developments in the region with particular reference to the behavior of some group of persons who have arrogated and referred to themselves as ‘Regional TEIN Executives’.
To the extent that Ghanaians and the youth of this region deserve to be told the truth, the leadership deemed it expedient to respond to the specific issues as raised in their press statement read on the 6th September, 2010.
For The Records
It is important to state that as far as the NDC constitution is concerned there is nothing like regional TEIN executives. Consequently the Regional Youth Wing of the NDC has never and does not recognize any group known as the regional TEIN executives.
Every youth body of the party in the region operates under the supervision of the Regional Youth Working Committee, the TEIN inclusive.
The regional youth working committee per its records has not supervised and inaugurated any group of persons referred to as regional TEIN executives
From the afore mentioned, the so called regional TEIN executives led by Dr. Daniel Sonu lacks the legitimacy and the authority to hold up themselves a body of the NDE in the region.
THE PARTY STRUCTURE
With regards to the youth wing the party maintains branch youth organizers who are under the supervision of constituency youth organizers including the TEIN within constituency. The constituency together with the TEIN bodies are supervised by the region.
Finally the region also falls directly under the supervision of the national youth organizer and his two deputies.
It presupposes that in all matters, lower structures are to consult their immediate superior structures and not to be side stepping them, so the chain of command as prescribed by the constitution of the NDC could be maintained and ensure the smooth administration of our party.
The question now is, has the group observed the structures?
MATTERS ARISING
It is interesting to have our brothers raise issues in respect of the above considering the fact that our government and national executives are quite young in office. However let’s try to go into the merits of their claims.
Lack of Budgetary Support
It is surprising that intellectuals as they claim have so soon forgotten the many issued we brought against our opponents in respect of misapplication of public funds for the benefit of their supporters.
A classical example of this is the reported misapplication of 60 billion TOR money which was spent on their serial callers. Per their argument it appears our brothers want us especially the National Youth Organiser to commit the same elementary mistakes made by the NPP which has accounted for their lost of power. The approach used in seeking budgetary support was not the best in the sense that the structures have not been followed. The increasing pressure on our officers for some of these things if not checked could force them to commit the same elementary mistakes made by the NPP and therefore must be condemned.
Inaccessibility and incompetence of Mr. Ludwig Hlodze
The argument that the national youth organizer does not stay in the office, pick his calls and actually incompetent is not only baseless but frivolous.
Once upon a time, there was a national youth organizer who at the time held the following positions; Member of Parliament, party’s representative on IPAC and a ranking member on communication in the parliament of Ghana yet we all agree that he performed creditably. Therefore the argument that Mr. Ludwig Hlodze doubles as Presidential Aid and National Youth Organiser makes him too busy and incompetent is baseless, frivolous and flies in the face of history. We should not forget that student companion said that a rolling stone gathers no moss. Per his records, Ludwig since becoming national youth organizer barely 8 months now, the youth wing has remained the most active and vibrant body of the party.
This is evident in the many programmes the wing has witnessed as illustrated below.
Ø Youth summit in Ho.
Ø Establishment of first ever NDC youth farm.
Ø Regional youth forum almost across the country.
Ø Fund raising programmes across the various regions.
Ø Currently as we speak he is guiding the Greater Accra Youth wing to organise fund raising programme and Regional Youth Summit.
So we ask you ladies and gentlemen, how on earth if not a personal agenda could anybody describe such a leader as incompetent?
Plans to kill the TEINS
Ladies and gentlemen how could they claim that a founding member of TEIN plans to kill his own initiative. Again this is mischievous and must be dismissed to say the least.
Regional Minister should Resign or Be Sacked
For us as regional youth wing we believe that the regional minister even with no deputy has actually distinguished himself, worked out his heart for the region and we have absolutely no reason to support any call for his exit rather we advise our brothers to learn to respect the structures, respect people in authority and avoid being confrontational sometimes.
Imposition of TEIN co-ordinator
Lastly it is also claimed that the regional and national youth organizers have planned to impose a TEIN co-ordinator. Funny isn’t it? How on earth could an illegitimate group question the authority of the above mentioned people regarding the selection of the TEIN co-ordinator? Indeed the region intends to nominate a TEIN co-ordinator for the consideration and approval of the national youth organiser anytime soon as part of its constitutional mandate.
A word of advice
We take this opportunity to advice every well meaning youth of our party to use the opportunities available to them in propagating the good policies and achievements of this government which is beginning to manifest in areas such as agriculture, housing, economic stability, installation of modern traffic lights which could last 48 hours in the absence of electricity, numerous jobs being created for the youth of this country etc.
A word of caution for the NPP
Ladies and gentlemen the regional youth wing wish to use this opportunity to caution the NPP specifically Anthony Karbu and Bamba to stay away from beating war drums at the least opportunity.
We have never been afraid of them in opposition and will not be afraid of them in government. The wing promises to match them boot-for-boot should they try anything silly as they have always been trumpeting.
Meanwhile the wing has and would remain absolutely loyal and supportive to the national youth organizer, the regional minister and of course the hardworking president His Excellency John Evans Atta Mills to ensure that the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’ is delivered.
Long live Ghana, long live the NDC and long live the president.
ARREST JAKE OBETSEBI LAMPTEY, KWADWO AFRIYIE AND MS FRANCES ASIAM
For Making Unsubstantiated Allegations And Causing Panic
Says Media Analyst Group
By Pearl B Agbemor & Kwasi Duodu
The Media Analysts Group has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye to arrest Jake Obetsebi Lamptey the National Chairman of the NPP, Owusu Afriyie the NPP General Secretary as well as Frances Asiam also of the NPP for making unsubstantiated reports on various radio stations that three people died out of the illegal barrier which was mounted at Abomosu during the recent bye- election at Atiwa.
Speaking at a News Conference in Accra, on Tuesday September 14th to share their thoughts on what they described as a pertinent issue threatening the nation’s fledging democracy, Mr. Alfred Kojo Triddles, Spokesperson of the group indicated that the group has observed with great concern the happenings at the Atiwa Constituency bye-election held on August 31, 2010.
According to the Spokesperson, the group found it unfortunate that prior to the bye-election,, the General Secretary of the opposition NPP, Owusu Afriyie castigated the ruling NDC for no justifiable reason and his agenda was to heighten the political temperature, demonize his political opponents the NDC and prepare the grounds for violence from the eve to the bye-election at Atiwa.
Mr. Triddles indicated that, a few days to the election, Alhaji Moctar Bamba, National Organizer of the NPP openly stated at an NPP rally at Kwabeng that he would unleash the “Bamba Boys” (NPP thugs) on any stranger in Atiwa during the election and he did exactly that.
He added that, to neutralize public criticism of Bamba’s confession of unleashing violence at Atiwa, the NPP openly lied to people that the Tamale based “Azoka Boys” had invaded Atiwa; the group was nowhere near the Eastern Region, let alone the Atiwa Constituency. “Our investigation revealed that whilst the General Secretary of the NPP was making these unfounded allegations against the NDC, he was at the forefront inciting the NPP youth in the Atiwa Constituency to perpetrate all sorts of illegalities against known NDC members in the Atiwa Constituency.
Mr. Triddles disclosed that, Mr. Owusu Afriyie organized misguided NPP youth as well as the Bamba Boys to mount roadblocks at Abomosu and the Bamba boys harassed people entering Abomosu to observe the polls.
He stated that they were appalled at the level of intolerance and indiscipline displayed by the NPP on the day of voting in the Atiwa Constituency. In broad-daylight both the NPP executives and their activists took the law into their own hands, mounted road blocks and visited mayhem on people suspected to be associated with the NDC he said.
In one of these actions he said the vehicles of the NDC Women’s Organizer, Anita Desosoo was attacked and eventually, one of the political harlots, now a member of the NPP, Frances Asiam granted an interview to Citi FM and Joy FM respectively and described the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Baba Jamal Ahmed his deputy as murderers, claiming they had killed three NPP members and this rehearsed lie of killings was repeated over and over again by Jake Obetsebi Lamptey and Sir John and other leading members on several radio stations whilst election was still on going.
Mr. Triddles revealed that this behavior created Fear and Panic and also led more of their supporters to take the law into their own hands by causing harm to innocent lives.
He disclosed that the DCE of Birim North had his windscreen destroyed; the Deputy National Propaganda Secretary was beaten up as well as Lawyer Chris Akumey.
The Spokesperson indicated that the leadership of the group is taking the necessary steps within the ambit of the law of the land to lodge an official compliant with the Police Administration at the Police Headquarters for onward submission to the IGP, Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye and to give room for a statement to be written, to showcase why the above names mentioned should not be invited for questioning by the Police and for them to assist the police to locate the bodies of the three persons they claimed were murdered during the Atiwa bye- election.
The Group further appealed to the Interior Minister and the IGP not to allow these unfounded and unsubstantiated allegations to go unpunished.
The press statement was signed by Alfred Kojo Triddles, Co-ordinator/Spokesperson and Albert K. Yeboah (Carlos) Organizer.
EDITORIAL
ARE OUR POLITICIANS SERVING US FOR THE REASON WE VOTED FOR THEM?
At one time during the reign of Idi Amin of Uganda, he paid a visit to England at the invitation of the Queen.
During a banquet the Queen held in honour of the visiting Ugandan President, the guest was so highly delighted that he could be seen smiling from ear to ear and making merry with everyone around.
At the end of the banquet, the African President is reported to have told the Queen, “You have fed me so much that I’m fed up, when you come to Uganda, I shall retaliate!”
Unfortunately or rather fortunately, the Queen never returned a visit to Uganda for Idi Amin to retaliate! Idi Amin was overthrown and eventually died in exile after fleeing Uganda.
Those were the days Idi Amin took Ugandans for a ride.
Back home and on a more serious note, the two leading political parties in Ghana, the NDC and the NPP are trying to take Ghanaians for a ride in trying to tell us that we don’t know the reason why we voted for them to come to power.
If they care to know why we vote them in and out of power, they should be told that we vote for them to come and manage the affairs of the state so that everyone of us should have food on the table and have shelter and clothing besides peace and security and other things that make life worth living.
It is therefore unacceptable for the two leading parties to throw away the responsibilities we have assigned them through the mandate given them through our votes and instead, turn to other unimportant things such as dissecting of a simple statement such as, “There are many ways of killing a cat”.
If our politicians can stretch such a statement by the Chairman of the NDC to such length as to cause him to be invited by National Security to be questioned, then are we to take our politicians serious?
Following in the wake of this, a group calling itself the Media Analyst Group in a press statement of September 14 has also called on the IGP to arrest Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, the National Chairman of the NPP together with Kwadwo Afriyie, the General Secretary of the NPP and Frances Asiam of the same party.
The reason? Frances Asiam is alleged to have accused the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Baba Jamal Ahmed, his Deputy of the murder of some people at Atiwa during the recent bye- election on City and Joy FM respectively.
This statement was allegedly repeated over and over again by Jake Obetsebi Lamptey the NPP National Chairman and Kwadwo Afriyie the General Secretary respectively.
Clearly the people we vote into power either don’t know why we vote them into power or simply take us for granted and must be told in plain language that we have the power to retaliate!
They need not ask how, because there are several ways to dissect an ant!
